Morrisey Well, Western Australia
The Morrisey Project is located ~200km north-east of the port of Geraldton in Western Australia within Western Australia’s Midwest mining district. The project occurs within the high grade metamorphic Narryer Terrane, which forms the north-western margin of the Yilgarn Craton. It consists of three granted Exploration Licences and one application covering an area of ~1,130km² and is located ~120km north of the town of Mullewa, where there is rail access to the Port of Geraldton, some 80km away.
Drilling of coincident magnetic and gravity anomalies at the Waterfall prospect intersected thick sections (>40m) of coarsely crystalline magnetite that could be beneficiated via magnetic separation techniques (Davis Tube Recovery – DTR) to produce a premium product (Fe >70%) with very low impurities from a relatively coarse grind size (<75 microns).
Similar magnetic and gravity anomalies to the Waterfall prospect were outlined by ground surveys at a number of locations within the Morrisey Project. Drill testing of these targets highlighted four additional prospects containing magnetite in BIF that could be beneficiated to a premium product (>70%Fe) by DTR test work, enhancing the potential for a commercial outcome for the Project.
