Gunanya, Western Australia
The Gunanya Gold-Copper Project is located ~250km north-east of Newman within the Paterson Province of Western Australia. It consists of one Exploration Licence covering an area of ~450km² in which large scale gold-copper mineralisation similar to the recent discoveries at Winu and Havieron is being targeted. The Paterson Province which hosts large gold and copper deposits at Telfer and Nifty is widely regarded as one of Australia’s current exploration “hot spots”. Exploration work at Gunanya is being funded under the SAA.
The area is totally covered by desert sand and young sediments making drilling an essential part of the exploration process. Reconnaissance RC drilling of discrete magnetic targets was inconclusive with two anomalies caused by weakly altered but barren magnetic basement rocks, while the third, more discrete target could not be tested due to high water flows in the drill-holes. Drilling at the third target stopped within favourable stratigraphy (Mundadjini Formation), similar to the sediments that reportedly host copper and gold mineralisation elsewhere in the Paterson. Discussions are continuing under the SAA regarding possible future testing of this target.
Large variations found in sedimentary rock types and basement depths suggest the presence of large-scale regional faults making it a favourable setting for hydrothermal mineralisation.
The Madley and Runton Projects are also located within the Paterson Province and cover isolated discrete magnetic targets close to regional structures. Detailed aeromagnetic data collected over these titles during 2021 are being used for computer modelling to determine target parameters and sites for possible drilling.
The company is currently exploring within Australia & Peru and holds in excess of 8,000 km² of exploration title (granted tenements and tenement applications).
